We recommend using a business delivery address to receive wine shipments, as we are required by law to have an adult (over age 21) signature. UPS will make 3 delivery attempts, and the customer will then be billed $24.00, in addition to return shipping costs.
A note on corks and decanting in older wines: We recommend using a dual-pronged Ah-So opener to gently, patiently finesse the cork. Gentleness is key, and individual corks vary, some prone to crumbling, others firm and easy to extract. If a cork crumbles or is pushed into the wine bottle, as sometimes occurs, we recommend decanting with a sieve. Decanting will only enhance the nuanced flavors of a mature wine. Finally, shipping can disturb sediment in older wines, so some rare wine collectors recommend cellaring & allowing sediments to settle to the bottom before enjoying.
Please consider opening your bottle of PELLA Cabernet Sauvignon several hours before enjoying; while it isn’t necessary to do so, we find that the wines gain in complexity and length as they open, breathe, and evolve. (We frequently cork an unfinished bottle and find that it has “improved” the next day.) We don’t generally decant our PELLA Cabernets, though some people prefer to do so. Most of the sediment clings to the shoulders of the wine bottle; any sediment in the glass is proof that the wine is a natural product that has not been filtered or fined.

(2004) The BEST 20-year-old Napa Cab you’ll taste! The 2004 PELLA is drinking impeccably, comparable in style to the best Bordeaux wines. (Customers have written to say they prefer it to Lafite.) It’s texture is pure whipped cream with luxuriant silkiness, creating a pleasing counterpoint to the core of bright, acidic fruit. The wine is a blockbuster of sophisticated and layered flavors, with impressive length. Notes of juicy black fig expand upon flavors of sea-salted black licorice, rosemary, black olive, coffee with cream, and sweet tobacco, with inviting aromatics of sandalwood, ripe briar patch, and menthol, as the wine uncoils in the glass. Gorgeous forest floor, pine tree, umami, wild lavender honey, and honeysuckle. Mouthwatering acidity, like biting into a ripe plum, plus coffee, caramel, and burnt sugar. The 2004 vintage exhibits the archetypal “Rutherford dust” tannin structure,” and the mouthfeel is dense, juicy, and nicely structured.
“The 2004 PELLA Cabernet Sauvignon is dark garnet with brickish red hues in the glass; this bottling offers a very sweetly fruited aromatic union of both riper fruits and holiday spices. Its scents include notes of black licorice, prune, cassis, cherry liqueur, cardamom, clove and sweet pipe tobacco spice. It offers a bit more density on the palate than the 2003 and is very well layered. The palate is juicy and mouthwatering with flavors of blackberry, prune and ripe black cherry. Some of the baking spices on the bouquet are echoed on the palate; it lingers with long-lasting but well-rounded integrated tannins along with a perceptible and final note of dried tobacco leaf.” David Thompson, The Napa Wine Project
(2005) The 2005 PELLA is a powerful and elegant wine with mouthwatering boysenberry, rhubarb, and Bing cherry fruit flavors and a lingering, silken finish. One is reminded of chewing on a fresh rose petal, in the way tannins, acids and fruit interplay, a hallmark of Kristof’s winemaking style. A fragrant nose of honeycomb, black olive, and tar in the glass. Flavors of vanillin, fragrant resinous woods like cedar, and star anise on the finish.
“The 2005 PELLA Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of boysenberry, blackberry, and a hint of sweetness. More opulent than the two previous vintages but still very much in balance. Dark fruit across the palate with chalky long-lasting tannins. The wine has an enviable texture - it is harmonious across the palate.” —David Thompson, The Napa Wine Project
(2022 SANNA) Pure, precise, linear, fresh, Kristof’s Sauvignon Blanc tastes like, well, Sauvignon Blanc grapes on the morning we pick them. Fragrant nose of citrus blossom, lime leaf, and star jasmine. Fresh fruit flavors of honeydew melon and Meyer lemon zest, in a polished and refined style with plenty of juicy acidity. Simplicity. Perfection.
“A very expressive nose of freshly picked Sauvignon Blanc grapes with aromatics of passion fruit, green melon rind, honeysuckle flowers and a variety of tropical fruits. The wine may be all fun and flashy on the nose, but the flavors on the palate multiply with tart green apple, pears, and citrus. A long complex finish builds with acidity peeling back layers of flavors.” —Back Room Wines, Napa
